ABOUT DAWN TO DUSK 2018

DAWN TO DUSK CHENNAI MARATHON 2018 - D2D: The D2D will be held on Sunday, 7th January 2018. The primary objective of D2D 2018 is to create awareness on keeping good health through running and cycling. D2D is an initiative by like-minded souls who have come forward to bring awareness towards worthy causes and to raise funds mainly for the underprivileged children who cannot afford treatment and funds raised for their education through the event. D2D has also inspired many runners to run for a cause for the underprivileged children and many charitable organizations. Through running and cycling activities, D2D has found numberless ways to help the less privileged children and has inspired thousands of veteran and first-time runners and cyclist to take part for the cause.

This year D2D team will be raising funds towards children affected by Cancer towards their treatment and towards building Children’s General Ward through a long term project for the underprivileged children.

D2D mission is to contribute for the treatment of the needy who are suffering from the Cancer disease and towards building a ward at the Cancer Institute.

CANCER INSTITUTE (WIA) , ADYAR, CHENNAI: D2D 2018 cause is to support the Cancer institute (WIA) Adyar. The Cancer Institute was founded by Dr. Muthu Lakshmi Reddy, India’s first woman medical doctor, in the year 1952 and the foundation stone was laid down by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime minister.

This institute is the first in the country to introduce Medical Physics and the Nuclear medicines departments.

Dr.Shanta, the current head has been instrumental in getting government support to the Cancer patients in terms of waiving duty on the cancer drugs and concessions on their train travel.

Along with treating cancer, the Cancer Institute has been instrument in education of various specialisations including M.Sc. in Medical Physics, Courses in Medical Oncology, Radiotherapy, Radio Diagnosis, Molecular Oncology, Nuclear Medicine among others.

CHENNAI RUNNERS, DREAM RUNNERS AND COOL RUNNERS: Our Running partners, raising awareness to stay fit and healthy, they have always shown great support and have been a pillar of support for D2D’s success every year in all its endeavours towards raising funds for underprivileged children.
D2D has been associating with Chennai Runners, Dream Runners and Cool Runners since its inception in 2012.

The entire community has shown large support to the event and these are highly motivating and enthusiastic running groups creating awareness to stay healthy through the sport of running.

TAMIL NADU CYCLING CLUB (TCC): Our Cycling Partner is the largest cycling club in India with over 11,200 members on its Facebook page. In line with its vision, TCC promotes cycling across all walks of life and encourages cycling for good health, for green environment and as a sport. Annually, TCC conducts 30+ cycling events over six categories (Recreation, Endurance, Cyclogy, Touring, Adventure and Competitive) including its flagship event "Tour of Tamilnadu".

TCC is proud to be associated with Neville's D2D event since its inception in 2012 and is an honour to be part of the impeccable growth and popularity of this great initiative and cycling for a charitable cause. TCC, in co-operation and support from the entire cycling community, has successfully conducted the events over years keeping safety as the top most priority and the motto being "No Helmet No Ride".

D2D is honoured to have TCC who play an active part to promote the vision of D2D.

CHENNAI VOLUNTEERS: Chennai Volunteers is again partnering with the 6th edition of D2D. Chennai Volunteers is a Not-for-Profit initiative that works towards enhancing awareness on the role of individuals in society. The organization facilitates volunteers to make meaningful skill and time contribution to beneficiaries and NGOs.

“Chennai Volunteers is happy to be associated as volunteer partner for D2D 2018. Since this is one of the largest annual race events in the city that supports a charitable cause, promotes a healthy lifestyle and includes all citizens of our city across age groups, we do look forward to taking part in this.

Last year, the volunteers had a great time helping out with different facets of the event, especially handling the smooth function of the race. We think that the next best way to feel the magic of this event is to be present as a volunteer. We have seen a trend from last year that some volunteers get so inspired and motivated when they volunteer at the run, that they take up running as a hobby and we encourage that as well.”

CLEAN CHENNAI CAMPAIGN (CCC): A clean city is the first step to moving towards healthy living practices in alignment with the objectives of D2D marathon. We are also happy to associate with CCC campaign to bring awareness to the people of Chennai through the D2D event to keep our city clean and lead a healthy life.

Clean Chennai is an initiative to catalyse a city-wide shift in citizens’ attitudes towards solid waste – ownership, treatment, and management. The aim is to engage the active support of all stakeholders – residents, commercial establishments, institutions and all others – to manage waste in an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable manner. The message is simple. Do not litter. Put waste where it belongs. In the right bins and at the right time.

Event Information

The 6th edition of D2D Marathon 2018 is a 12 hour Day Marathon. The first 6 hours will be Running. The next 6 hours will be Cycling. A participant can register for Running / Cycling under various distances. For children you can register for Kids Run and a parent can run with the kid for longer distance categories (3Km, 5Km, 10Km).

REGISTER FOR RUNNING & CYCLING: A participant can also take part in both Running and Cycling events and must register for both the events by paying two separate registration fee.

Please register at the earliest as this will help Tamilnadu Cycling Club (TCC) to arrange for logistics and other arrangements at the venue and along the route.

  • 1. How do I register for D2D Marathon?

    You can register online at  www.d2dchennaimarathon.com   for Adults, Children and Cycling event.

    Once you contact to above number or write to us, our team will coordinate and help you in providing the scratch card for registering

  • 2. What is the registration fee?

    The registration fee is INR 995/- and for scratch card it is INR 1000/-

  • 3. Will the Registration fee be refunded?

    The Registration fee is non-refundable. Please note that this event is run for charity and the fee is not refundable once paid.

  • 4. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

    The registration cannot be transferred to any other participant.

  • 5. How do I make the payment?

    Participants can make the payment using their credit / debit card through the online payment portal which you will be directed to after you’ve duly completed your registration process.

    For group registrations, the scratch card can be picked up from calling us at +91 6380098559.

  • 6. How will I know that my participation entry has been accepted?

    You will receive a confirmation mail upon your successful registration process. You can take a print out of the mail, which will be needed at the time of bib collection.
    You could need to also present the confirmation received by mail on your phone along with a photo id while collecting your bibs and kit bag.

  • 7. What are the events will be part of D2D?

    1.Adults Running Event: Runners above the age of 16 years can run the following distances: 45 Km plus (Time to finish is within 6 hours) / 42 Km/21 Km / 10 Km / 5 Km / 3 Km

    2. Kids Run:  Children above 6 years and below 18 years can participate in the following distances: 200 Mts / 400 Mts / 800 Mts / 1 Km / 2 Km which will be conducted inside the ground. .
    The 3 KM / 5 KM and 10 KM can be run as per the route that will be allocated for the children.

    CHILDREN LESS THAN 16 YEARS OF AGE SHALL BE REPRESENTED BY THEIR PARENT OR GUARDIAN.

    A WRITTEN CONSENT / DECLARATION NEED TO BE PROVIDED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN TOWARDS THE PARTICIPATION IN RUNNING.

    3.Cycling event:  Cycling participants above the age of 16 years can participate in the following distances: 25 Km / 50 Km / 75 Km / 100 Km / 100 Km plus

  • 8. Dawn to Dusk T-shirts?

    D2D is also bringing out dry-fit T-shirt/Jersey for Adults and Kids which is included in your registration fee.

    Sport the “D2D” official T-shirt/Jersey and display your support for Running and Cycling
    There can’t be a better way of exhibiting your support than sporting “Dawn to Dusk” T-shirt on the event day.

  • 9. What is Dawn to Dusk Marathon ?

    D2D Team will be conducting the Dawn to Dusk Chennai Marathon this year. D2D primary objective to raise funds and support to needy children. It’s also to create awareness to stay healthy through running and cycling.

  • 10. What is the purpose of this D2D Marathon?

    D2D Marathon is organised with two major objectives:

    • Firstly, the event is a fundraiser for a good cause, and like the previous year’s this year the funds generated will be used for upliftment of underprivileged children.
    • Secondly, to encourage participants to run and cycle along with their family and friends to keep good health and take part for a cause. D2D’s motive is to get the entire family with children to take part in running or cycling.
       
  • 11. What is the route for the Running event?

    Will be announced closer to the event.

  • 12. Why is it that I have not received my confirmation email despite registering and making payment?

    There could be many reasons for not receiving the confirmation email and the reasons could be:

    The email has been blocked by your mail server or treated as spam.

    The email has gone directly to your junk mail. Please check your junk mail in this case. Error in email id given at the time of registration.

  • 13. What is the start time for the running event and cycling events (Adults and Kids Runs)?

    The Running event will be flagged off sharp as per the timing that will be announced closer to the event.
    We request all participants to assemble at the venue at least 30-45 minutes earlier as it will take time to walk from the parking area.

    The 42+, followed by 42, 21Km will be flagged-off first followed by 10Km, 5Km, and 3 Km. There will be each 5 minutes time given so that every runner would be able to run comfortably.

    The children run will be flagged off about 8.30 am for 200 MTS, 400 MTS, 800 MTS, 1 KM and 2Km.

    The Cycling event will be flagged off on time again and Cyclists and would request participants to assemble at least 45 minutes before the event begins.

    The cycling route will also be updated as we get closer to the event.

  • 14. Will there be refreshment points, medical, physio and emergency support?

    Yes. The D2D team has made arrangements for hydration points for all running categories.

    Medical assistance will be available.

    Physios will be available at the start and finish point.

  • 15. Where is the Cycling Track?

    Cycling will be flagged off from the venue which will be announced closer to the event. The route for the cycling event will be provided closer to the event by the organizers.

  • 16. Will BIB’s and Timing chips provided?

    BIB will be provided to all participants and must compulsorily wear the BIB. Without the BIB no participants will be allowed to take part. Therefore request all participants to wear their BIB.
    We are looking at bringing in timing chip but we are yet to confirm the same due to the logistics run inside the university campus etc

  • 17. Where can we collect our running and cycling BIBs from?

    The Bib distribution venue will be informed closer to the date of the event for running participants and cycling participants. Please carry the confirmation mail either in hard copy or on phone to collect your bibs

  • 18. Will there be a baggage counter to store my bags / items?

    A baggage storage counter will be operative during the official course of the event at the university campus. However, it is advisable to keep all your valuables at your home or in your vehicle. Organizers shall not be responsible for loss of any items – specially mobile phones.

  • 19. Medals / Finisher certificates

    Every finisher will get a finisher medal at the finish line and e-certificate shall be provided for adults and kids after the event is completed. This e-certificate will be provided for both running and cycling.

     

  • 20. Car / Two Wheeler / Cycle Parking:

    Provision for Car, two-wheeler and cycle parking will be made available at closer to the university campus. We will update you different parking venues as we get closer to the event.
    We will post the route map for your vehicle parking option.

     

  • 21. Will there be restrooms at the Cycling / Running venue?

    The restroom will be placed at the venue for women / men.

     

  • 22. Can I bring any spectators or family members for the Event?

    Yes, your family and friends can remain in the Start/Finish Area.

     

  • 23. Are spot registrations available?

    We have a maximum head count of registrations if it exceeds before the last date, we may not entertain spot registrations. If it does not exceed, spot registrations can be done at the Bib collection day.

    WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO SPOT REGISTRATION ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

    SPOT REGISTRATION WILL BE OPEN FOR CHILDREN ONLY EVENT.

     

  • 24. Where can I get the running course map?

    The running course map will be shared to the registered participants through mail and will be also posted on the bib distribution day.
